Samarpan Diwas is one of the most cherished annual observances organised by the DAV College Managing Committee to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj — the founder Principal, visionary educationist, and social reformer who shaped the DAV mission over a century ago. Under the esteemed tutelage and blessings of Arya Ratan Dr. Punam Suri, Padma Shri Awardee, President, DAV College Managing Committee and Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, Samarpan Diwas was celebrated with profound reverence, spirited enthusiasm, and collective pride on 18th April, 2026 at the Haryana State Sports Complex, Sector 12, Faridabad. The occasion honoured the 162nd birth anniversary of the illustrious educationist, Mahatma Hansraj Ji, while also celebrating 140 glorious years of DAV's distinguished contributions to the fields of education, community service, and service to the nation.
The pious ceremony was presided over by Dr. Punam Suri Ji, President, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi. The occasion was also graced by the presence of the first lady of the DAV family, Smt. Mani Suri Ji and Shri Yogi Suri Ji, National President, Arya Yuva Samaj.
The event witnessed an impressive gathering of nearly 15,000 attendees, including dignitaries from diverse fields, Directors of DAVCMC, Regional Directors, Principals, Arya Samajis, Sanyasis, students, teachers, and parents from various DAV institutions, along with distinguished guests from the district.
The celebration began with a Vedic Hawan, followed by Vedic hymns and prayers. The ceremonial lamp was thereafter lit by Dr. Punam Suri ji, along with other eminent dignitaries symbolizing the triumph of knowledge and virtue over ignorance. A defining highlight of the celebration was the ceremonial release of the latest edition of Arya Jagat and the Aryan Heritage Souvenir, symbolising the enduring intellectual and cultural vibrancy of the Arya Samaj movement.
In his address, Dr. Punam Suri Ji reflected on the distinguished legacy of the DAV institutions and the proud contribution made by the DAV institutions for over 140 years across education, community service, and nation-building. He urged educators and students to move beyond conventional learning towards project-based and research-driven approaches. Drawing from the teachings of the Rigveda, Dr. Suri urged students to emulate the qualities of the sun without discrimination. He reaffirmed DAV's commitment to connecting every section of the society to the mainstream. He announced futuristic plans for the global expansion of DAV, with a vision of spreading Vedic knowledge across international borders. He also proposed a transformative model of holistic assessment and exhorted all educators to draw inspiration from the ideals of Mahatma Hansraj, affirming that a dedicated teacher holds the power to elevate a student beyond all imaginable heights.
Spiritual leader, Swami Ritspati Saraswati also addressed the congregation and praised the indispensable role that DAV institutions play in promoting value-based, holistic education. Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, and Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Haryana, were felicitated with the "Visishtha Samman" in recognition of their exemplary journey of service, learning, and contribution in the field of education.
Three distinguished Principals - Mrs. Papiya Mukherjee DAV Durgapur, West Bengal, Mrs. Charu Maini DAV Public School, Sector 49, Gurugram and Mr. Niraj Kumar Singh PG DAV Sr Sec. School, West Patel Nagar, New Delhi - were conferred with the “Mahatma Hansraj Award 2026” for their innovative management, leadership, and selfless dedication towards the cause of education. Dr. Punam Suri also felicitated Arya Samaj Sanyasis, Vedic scholars, and students who excelled in the DAV Olympiads 2025, conducted by DAVCAE.
A visually stunning and spiritually evocative performance of Artistic Yoga was presented by young students, drawing warm applause from the entire gathering. A magnificent cultural spectacle titled SAMARPAN unfolded as the highlight of the evening. The captivating dance ballet, by more than 1,000 students from DAV schools of Faridabad and Sahibabad, paid a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Hansraj Ji — the selfless visionary to whom DAV owes its very genesis — while also celebrating all the Presidents of DAV College Managing Committee who followed in his footsteps and carried forward his illustrious legacy as true torchbearers.
