Mathematics Master Trainer Programmes are designed to hone the competencies of MTs as a teacher and develop in them skills to be an effective teacher-educator. The role of a Master Trainer is multidimensional requiring a vast array of skills and high level of coordination. The “Role of a Trainer” as planner is a must know fact by any trainer to identify and analyse the training needs of teachers at different levels and to design and organise the workshop accordingly. DAV Centre for Academic Excellence, DAVCMC conducted a 3-day Capacity Building Training Programme for Primary Level Master Trainers in March, 2023. By and large, Mathematics is considered dull and boring. At the Primary Level MTs were apprised of latest creative pedagogical practices to cater to the needs of all types of learners and also to strengthen the concepts of difficult topics introduced at this level. MTs explored, Competency based Mathematics Learning, Pedagogical Practices as per NEP 2020 which include Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary approach along with experiential learning using storytelling, games and puzzles for building Maths concepts, tools and techniques of Visual Mathematics and Creative lesson planning with Designing and Creating activities as per various 5E Constructivist approach. With such programmes, MTs were made ready to take up their role as a facilitator to their colleagues and initiate-regular professional development of Mathematics teachers of schools within their Cluster.
